Spring Cleaning and Organizing Checklist

You can feel it in the air! It’s Spring and we have the 2022 Spring Cleaning Checklist, filled with spring cleaning tips to make your house amazing. Get started with this list now and be ready for springtime adventures with a cleaner and better organized home.

The Green Clean

Think green before you begin your 2022 spring cleaning efforts. We all know the environment is a concern for many in society and doing our part is always a great idea. The great thing about this is there have never been as many green cleaning options as there are now. Just about every group of spring cleaning tips has Green options for protecting the environment.

When planning your spring cleaning efforts, think about this in advance. It will help you shop for the right products and supplies to help you in this area. You can even ask an attendant where you shop for Green options to use when spring cleaning. Some stores even have a special area with environmentally friendly cleaning products.

Get Organized

During the colder months, things tend to pile up and get stuck in closets and cabinets. Over time, we actually don’t know what we have hiding behind stuff in the front! Some fresh organization is always welcome among spring cleaning tips because neat, organized spaces just look cleaner. Here’s some suggestions.

Cabinets

After you clean out your cabinets (assuming that you are) add some organization. There are many great options to help you organize. Cabinets provide endless opportunities to use space.

  1. Add sliding shelves. With sliding shelves, you can see and access items at the back of the shelf as easily as dry goods at the front. A shallow lip around each shelf keeps supplies from falling off.
  2. Bin organizers. Use a deep bottom drawer near food-prep areas and install trash and recycling bins. This keeps these items hidden but accessible.
  3. Install pull-out racks for spices. Everyone loses spices among that pile of bottles stuck into a top cabinet. Installing a narrow slide-out spice rack adds organization and frees up cabinet space. Not to mention, it makes cooking easier.
  4. Drawer organizers. Various sized and shaped drawer organizers are among the cheapest and easiest organization tools to locate and use. Add containers that fit inside to keep up with tiny items.
  5. Rotating cabinet turntables. This is a great option for storing lots of items and still keeping them easily accessible. The turntable can slide out or be installed in a corner bottom cabinet.
  6. Plate racks. Vertical plate racks come in different sizes to fit into your cabinets. Store heavy dishes vertically in this rack on the bottom of an upper cabinet for easy access and splendid organization.

Refrigerator

There are many new great ways to save space in your refrigerator. For soda, beer, or other drinks a can dispenser could work wonders. Once you have cleaned out your fridge for Spring consider adding one of these.

  1. Refrigerator drawers: most refrigerators come with a few drawers, but you can add your own of different sizes that hang onto standard shelves. Clear drawers are a great way to keep foods separated and organized.
  2. Clear bins: clear bins are an affordable way to separate goods while still keeping them visible and accessible when you need them. Label your drawers and bins for even quicker access.
  3. Turntables: clear turntables are a great way to store medium-sized items and keep them quickly accessible. Use them on any shelf and adjust shelves for various size items.
  4. Drink dispensers: these clear racks not only keep drinks safely organized and in place, they display them beautifully, making choices easy and fast.
  5. Divided freezer bins: freezers tend to become more cluttered than the refrigerator. Some divided bins that are tempered for use in the freezer keeps your food items neatly stored and readily accessible without allowing them to become stuck together.

Moving Things Outside

Bikes, gardening tools, sports equipment, and much more typically end up in closets, basements, or garages. Piles of stuff keep you from knowing exactly what you have and using it as desired. Here’s some super clever ideas for making more room where you store items used outdoors.

  1. Storage sheds: these handy storage options come in all shapes and sizes, from plastic and metal free standing models to wooden hideaway versions that connect to and blend in with your wooden privacy fence. Unload the garage and organize your items in a neat shed for increasing space and easy access.
  2. Shelving and hooks: any space is limited, so make the most of your available garage or shed space with shelving and wall hooks. Various styles and sizes of shelving are available for large and small items. Hang smaller, lighter, or awkwardly shaped items along walls or ceilings.
  3. Decorative trunks: the age of the steamer trunk may be gone, but a decorative wooden trunk matching your outdoor decor is a great addition to the side of the porch. Store gardening tools, plant materials, and more yard items for easy access. Add a cushion on top for overflow porch seating.
  4. Trash & recycling storage: ugly trash cans outdoors are an eyesore. Enclose trash and recycling bins inside a large wooden or plastic shed built for purpose. Make sure large doors swing wide for easy access and removal of the bins when it’s time to empty them.
  5. Hangers: simple hooks can be used to hang yard and garden tools in the garage, shed, or greenhouse. Hang a simple closet rod and use as many hooks as necessary to keep tools off the floor, away from walkways, and easily accessible.

Hire a Professional for the Hard Tasks

Cleaning and organizing brings a certain level of joy and satisfaction. Many of these tasks are simple DIY projects. Others are best left to a professional. Some surfaces in your home warrant extra protection and a higher level of care. Tile and grout in bathrooms and kitchens are typically some of those areas.

Restoring life to these surfaces can bring them back to life, but the wrong cleansers or cleaning methods can make them look even worse, or damage the surface material. Revivify Surface LLC provides safe, effective, and reliable cleaning, refurbishing, and sealing for tile, grout, stone, countertops, glass shower doors, outdoor patios, and other surfaces in your home.
